The Alpaca Centre
The Alpaca Centre makes an interesting and different day out. The centre lies in an attractive setting close to Penrith. Although it is a working farm breeding and rearing Alpaca's, visitors can view these unusual animals from the paddock.
The Alpaca Centre shop sells a variety of stylish clothing created from exceptionally fine Alpaca fibre. Many of the ethnic style garments offered for sale are hand made in Peru. South American artefacts, jewelllery, and pottery can also be purchased.
The upstairs of the shop contains the Just Wood Gallery, which offers the visitor an excellent collection of wooden furniture and ornamental pieces, many of which are crafted in the Alpaca Centre's workshop by the Centre's owner Garry Stevenson and his son. In addition there is a tea room offering a variety of refreshments and delicious home made produce.
Also at the centre is G and S Timber Crafts, which provides specialist hard woods for wood turners, carvers and furniture makers.
