Tranquil Wise Een Tarn lies in the Claife Heights region and is one of a number of tarns situated between Lake Windermere and Esthwaite Water. The tarn is but a short walk from Esthwaite Water.

The waters of Wise Een Tarn are rich in aquatic plant life. From its southern end, a wooden boathouse can be seen on the far shore and there are superb views over the tarn to the majestic, cragy profile of the Langdale Pikes, Crinkle Crags and Bow Fell.

The route to Wise Een Tarn from Near Sawrey

Distance - around 3.5 miles

Duration- around an hour and a half

*Commencing at the Tower Bank Arms in Near Sawrey, walk in the direction of Hawkshead for around 50 metres and turn right.

Claife Heights

* Continue along the road, passing through farm buildings and a cattle barn, when the road becomes a farm track continue along it up to Claife Heights. Keep on this ascending track, passing through a gate to reach Moss Eccles Tarn
