The attractive village of Seatoller lies near the head of the dramatic Borrowdale valley, where fast flowing Hause Gill from the Honister Pass joins the River Derwent.

The village houses the Dalehead Base National Park Information Centre, sited within a converted barn. The Information Centre provides programmes of events, walks and a good selection of books, maps and guides for the tourist and hosts interesting displays on the geography, history and geology of the area.
Most of the cottages in the village where built for quarry workers employed at nearby Honister Pass. Before the quarries opened in around 1643, only a farm stood on the site.
