Immortalized by Wordsworth who penned his poem 'The Idle Shepherd Boys' in reference to it, the waterfall can be reached via a highly scenic path which leads off from that leading to Stickle Tarn.

Parking for the walk up to Dungeon Ghyll is availiable at the foot of Harrison Stickle. The nearby Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is a popular gathering spot for walkers and climbers, many famous climbers have stayed there. The hotel offers food, drinks and accomodation.
